Jim and Ned Neumiller, Seghesio’s father and son growers, have been working with the Maffei family for a few years to secure fruit for a single vineyard wine from head-trained heritage selection blocks planted in 1928 and 1942.
Chianti Station, Alexander Valley. This acre and a half, planted in 1910, is the rich source of four unique Sangiovese clones that have subsequently been used as mother clones in our other Sangiovese vineyards. Fortunately, the original vineyard has been preserved exclusively for use in this tiny production wine.
After careful vinification in small, open top fermenters, the wine was aged for I6 months in primarily Hungarian oak resulting in a wine with a unique pungency and firmness. The wine is dark and brooding with intense color and warm, sweet fruit. There is an intense concentration of blueberry jam, fig and passionfruit, complemented by white pepper and desert herbs that linger through a long, persistent finish.

Deeply perfumed aromas of raspberry and old vine Zin’s intrinsic briary spiciness. Layered bright fruit flavors reminiscent of a cherry pie with a graham cracker crust. Old vine Zinfandel’s complex spice undertones with a long, persistent finish. Low yields in the vineyard preserved the vibrant natural acidity and balanced tannins.
Showing a deep ruby color in the glass, our 2014 Double Canyon Vineyard Syrah expresses aromas of rich caramel, cedar and hints of rose petal. The entry possesses good structure with generous amounts of black and red fruits, accented by vanilla crème, root beer, black tea and spice, leading into a long, juicy finish with lingering notes of mouthwatering red plum.
