Sourced from a south facing hillside on our Chamisal Estate Vineyard, with rocky Tierra sandy loam soils.  The combination of the free draining, devigorating soils with the extra heat that the south-facing slope accumulates makes it perfect for the lateripening Grenache.  Even being one of the warmest sites on our Estate, the climate in the Edna Valley is still at the cooler edge of where Grenache can successfully be grown and the wines show this in their focused acidity and dense, very ageable tannin.

Classic cool climate Grenache, redolent with red cherry and plum aromatics, rose petal, warm baking spice and pencil shavings.  This wine reminds me of a top flight Barolo on the palate with long, lingering tannins, firm acidity and impeccable ageability.
